We interrupt these projects for something new..............

I can't start my post today without sending all of those who lost loved ones in the 9/11 terrorist attacks against our country 15 years ago my thoughts and prayers.  It is a day our country will never forget and should never forget.

Yesterday I was innocently browsing on Ravelry when I decided to check out friends projects.  If you aren't my friend you can find me as Mereknits on Ravelry just like I am here! Anyway my friend  Acorn to Oak made these wonderful leaves and I tell you what I could not get them out of my mind.  I quickly looked up the pattern link which you can find here, then preceded to find yarn and a hook and got started.

These leaves were made with Malabrigo Mecha that was gifted to me a few years ago from Suzan for making her two little scarves.  I have been waiting for the perfect project for this yarn and I found it.

The colorway for the green is 045 Chircas and the rust/orange is 227 Volcan.  I used a size L hook but should have used a J.  These will be coasters for my house and to give to friends.  I already have two wrapped to give to a friend tomorrow.  This is the fastest project I have completed in a long time, and frankly I needed a fast finish as my other projects are taking me a long time.  260 yards of yarn  made 12 leaves so they use approximately 22 yards for each leaf.  A fun project for those little bit of yarn leftovers.

One of my goals this weekend, besides not getting in my car once was to finish this scarf.  It has been on my loom for a while and I felt the need to get it off.  I swear my edges are horrible because I always seem to be in a hurry.  I still love it even though I don't want you to look to close at it.  I have not decided if this is for me or for my gift basket.  I used 100 yards of Elann baby silk for the warp and about 300 yards of Louisa Harding Pittura for the weft.  It looks very much like my last scarf finish because I used only the Louisa Harding yarn for both warp and weft for that scarf.  I like that the Elann yarn makes up the fringe, it is a nice contrast.

This is not the best picture and would have been deleted until I saw the photo bomber at the bottom.  A clean photo bomber because one of my other goals this weekend was to give this boy a bath.

Hope you all have had a great weekend and a great week.

LOVE your newest scarf! And I vote keeping it for yourself. You deserve it. And those leaves are so cool. Very pretty. I swear, I keep seeing projects in crochet that make me want to learn that...but I have too many things started knitting that I need/want to finish. Sweet, clean Max - the best photo-bomber!!

While I was sitting for the grandgolden this weekend I was wondering about giving such a big thing a bath. Son takes him to the groomer and keeps him clipped but it must be fun to have something that big to soap up.
The scarf turned out lovely as did the leaves. Your crochet skills are perfection.

Meredith those leaves are perfect for Autumn! You sure made them up fast. And your scarf is gorgeous as always. I think you are waaaay too critical of yourself my friend. Your little photo bomber is great. I thought about giving Chloe a bath tomorrow, but we're heading back to the lake in a couple of days and the first thing she does is roll in the dirt! She'll get a bath in a couple of weeks when the camping is done. :-)
Blessings,
Betsy

These crocheted leaves are lovely. It would be fun to make a set but I'm not a crocheter at all...well years ago. But right now I don't want to learn anything new. I've got a couple projects already lined up for the gift giving season! I like you furry photo bomber! Glad you saw him before you deleted the photo! I agree with Betsy that your scarf is lovely and we always are our worst critic!!
It's chilly this evening and I pulled on a sweatshirt over my t-shirt. Cooler fan is off!
And I just became, finally, a member of Ravelry! I'm been meaning to do it and now I am...thank you very much!
Happy week, my friend! Hugs!

Wish I could crochet. I love your leaves. I just learned yesterday about a boat shuttle that the yarn comes out from the back and it is supposed to be a lot easier to get good salvages. I they are pricey but maybe worth it. The gal who was telling me about them said using it made weaving faster and she didn't need to give her salvages much thought. I'm making pillows so I can sew up those salvages and no one is the wiser. Give Max a hug from me. Love you.

Your scarf is gorgeous! I love those colors. I think they'll look very nice on you. Your leaves are so pretty. How funny, I just saw that design on Pinterest over the weekend and was thinking how nice they'd be made into a garland. I will have to go back and pin them and try them sometime. They really came out nice. I hope you're having a good week, Meredith.

The scarf is stunning, such wonderful colours and I expect it is soft and silky too. I think I would be tempted to keep it for myself! The leaves are very cute and I am tempted to make an Autumn wreath this year, but I'm still hanging onto the last of summer at the moment.

You know I like to use up leftovers so those coasters are a great idea, I am thinking they would make beautiful window bunting for this time of year too if you put them on a string of chains. That is a beautiful scarf and I know the feeling of finishing something is such a thrill so well done. Jo x

Great leaves Meredith - beautiful colours in both your leaves and your woven scarf. How appropriate for the current season.

Thanks for the link to the free pattern for the leaves - I love crocheted coasters - they do a much better job at 'mopping up' condensation from cold glasses than other types of coasters. I'm sure your gifted leaves will be enthusiastically received.

As for your photo bomber - how is your darling Max travelling these days? He must still be quite interested in everything going on in the family to have made sure he was involved in your photo! Give him a big furry soft pat from me!

Hugs and best wishes (including get well wishes) to your and yours as well. :-) xx
